The Ultimate Gift To Humanity
How It Works
When you make an endowed gift, your contribution is invested and becomes part of our endowment. Each year, the interest on this investment is disbursed to the purpose you designate. Since the principal remains untouched, your fund will continue to generate support and impact for eternity.
WHat you can give
You can give cash, securities, property, other assets, or list us as a beneficiary on your life insurance policy. You can make your contribution anytime or write Squalor to Scholar into your will.
Let's say you'd like to ensure a charitable organization receives $1,000 every year in perpetuity, and that charity spends 4% of its endowment each year. This means any earnings above 4% are reinvested in the fund so that it continues to grow over time.
To calculate the endowment needed to sustain your gift in perpetuity, divide your gift amount ($1,000 in this example) by the organization's spending policy (4% in this example), which equals $25,000.
Thus, by contributing an endowment of $25,000, you are actually giving $1,000 every year FOREVER!
